Naturally Grown, Local Food
Welcome!
Seeds and Spores Family Farm is located in Chocolay Township, 12 miles south of Marquette in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We have been farming in the area for twenty-eight years. Our mission is to provide healthy, local farm goods to our community while creating a diverse and resilient farm, embracing nature, and tending our land with care.
Five acres of produce are grown on the farm using authentic, natural techniques. We believe that nutritious food starts from nourished soil and have built a healthy, living soil by adding minerals, kelp, Bio-Dynamic preparations, and compost to our fields and twelve hoop houses. Cover crops and field rotations are utilized as well. In addition to vegetables and fruit, we grow shiitake mushrooms and both culinary and medicinal herbs. We raise exclusively grass-fed beef cattle. Our heritage breed hogs and laying hens are also seasonally raised on pasture and are supplemented with organic feed that we grind and mix on the farm.
The farm is equipped with a certified processing kitchen and a wood fired pizza oven. These are exciting tools to highlight what we grow on the farm in a variety of ways.
Since the beginning of our farming adventure, we have been dedicated to producing “beyond organic” food and herbal medicines. We are proud to focus on selling our high-quality products locally and are grateful for the support of our community!
